THREE GLASSES 2023 TO VIOGNIER ARS MAGNA 2020

by Maria Carla Magni

We are very proud to have received the coveted Gambero Rosso Guide 2023 award with the TRE BICCHIERI (THREE GLASSES) assigned to the VIOGNIER ARS MAGNA 2020 label.

This prestigious award marks an important step for the Ômina Romana winery as a sign of recognition for work that originates from the team, from the field under the direction of the agronomist Paula Pacheco , and through the winemaking process in the cellar by the oenologist Simone Sarnà and his staff.

The cultivation method and production philosophy chosen by Ômina Romana, adopted over the years, are the result that rewards the values of rigor and passion, manual skill, and continuous research into the characteristics of the soil and vines, allowing the high quality standard of the final product to be expressed.

The manual work in the cellar has aligned with the enhancement of an ancient terroir with an incomparable millennial history, especially thanks to its environmental and geo-pedological characteristics where Ômina Romana is located. Every single vine, since it was planted many years ago, is carefully tended and cultivated with a sustainable approach in harmony with nature to produce, with particular attention to the best balance point, few bunches per plant.

The harvest coincides with another fundamental point in the production chain, a moment when the grapes, to obtain wines with an unmistakable character, are transformed without forcing the processes, granting each of our wines time and rest to mature.

It is essential to emphasize that the virtues of our territory of volcanic origin and the geographical position where Ômina Romana is located are unique due to the characteristics of its terroir: the winds arriving from the sea and contrasting with those coming from the Apennines create the optimal microclimate which, thanks to temperature fluctuations and volcanic soil, allow the maximum potential of its grape varieties to be expressed, including: CHARDONNAY, VIOGNIER (among the white grapes) and MERLOT, CABERNET FRANC, CABERNET SAUVIGNON, CESANESE (among the red grapes)

The Ômina Romana winery, located in the hilly area of Velletri, presents the technical characteristics of the award-winning VIOGNIER ARS MAGNA 2020 label below.

The VIOGNIER ÔMINA ROMANA is associated in Raimondo Lullo's ARS MAGNA with "Virtus" as a synonym for value, moral perfection, honesty, and rectitude, which well match the meticulous work carried out with passion by our team from the vineyard to the bottle.

Sommelier's Profile for VIOGNIER ARS MAGNA 2020

PALATE: in the mouth, it is consistent with the nose. The entry is appreciated with hints of apricot, then continuing with slightly spicy notes and a very long finish. Its fundamental role is its savoriness, which imparts pleasantness and makes the drink energetic and lively, without forgetting its great elegance.
