OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our region's innate propensity for winegrowing and our discerning approach to our vocation represent the perfect union for the creation of wines whose excellent quality is guaranteed. The ÔMINA ROMANA vineyards are located outside of Velletri, at an altitude of approximately 200 meters, roughly 25 kilometres from the sea. During the day, cool breezes blow in from the Tyrrhenian coast, while a breeze comes down from the Alban Hills at night, creating the ideal conditions for healthy vine growth. Cold springs are usually followed by sunny summers which are not too hot and by mild autumns, the ideal conditions for complete maturation of the grapes, guaranteeing a soft taste, without any tart notes. The soil, being both volcanic and abounding in minerals, is able to provide strength to the vines, producing grapes with great aromatic richness. We cultivate our vineyards for a low per-hectare yield, subjecting each bunch to a selection process, both in the vineyard and at the winery, checking for any unsound grapes before proceeding to controlled temperature processing. Our wines receive the final touch after fermentation, when they are aged on fine lees for at least six months. It is the marvellous phenolic transfer that the wines undergo in small French oak barriques, toasted to varying degrees, something that imbues them with the most noble aromas. After that, we patiently wait for the continued ageing in the bottle to give our wines maturity and fullness.

Our range of products exhibits a variety of characteristics, ranging from elegant to soft, powerful, and complex – featuring subtle but mature fruity notes – to wines being pronounced and rich. These UNIQUE ATTRIBUTES vary slightly from year to year and we aim to emphasize the specific CHARACTER and aroma of the year in question. After all, we would like to promote an appreciation of our wines even since the earlier years of our activity. They can also be left to age and develop their aroma even further. Finally, to guarantee the singular and unmistakable OMINA ROMANA STYLE.
