OUR WINES

In ancient times, wine was an offering sacred to the gods. Today it represents a subjective journey through culture and the senses.

It is precisely through the vinification of noble and complex varietals in their unblended form that we can understand and appreciate the pure intrinsic characteristics that each variety has to offer. Our "know-how” is best expressed in our monovarietals, in which we celebrate the aromatic richness harboured within each grape that grows on our vines, whether Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Viognier, Chardonnay, and Cesanese.

OUR CUVÉE

Just as wind, weather, and passion join forces to make each grape unique, composition of the grape varieties is the process that completes a wine. We have perfected this process for our ÔMINA ROMANA cuvées and provided each with a mythological leading figure and a numerical code. Inspired by gods, the names reveal the character of the wines as follows:

HERMES DIACTOROS
The nimble nature and light-heartedness of the Greek messenger of the gods Hermes Diactoros and patron saint to travelers characterize the wines in this range.

DIANA NEMORENSIS
As the Roman goddess of the hunt and enchanting protector of femininity, Diana Nemorensis is the leading figure of the wines in this range, embodying elegance and youthful power.

JANUS GEMINUS
As a two-faced Roman god, he stands guard over the beginning and the end, and these superior strengths symbolize the wines of this range.

CERES ANESIDORA
With her exceptional strength, this Roman goddess of agriculture made the earth fertile and rich. With her last name Anesidora (she who sends up gifts), Ceres does the same to the wines in this range.

The Roman numerals transformed into letters of the Latin alphabet provide insight into the abbreviations of the type of grape. The codes of our DIANA NEMORENSIS I cuvée XIII V, III XIX, and III VI can be deciphered as follows:

XIII V = ME = Merlot
III XIX = CS = Cabernet Sauvignon
III VI = CF = Cabernet Franc

Linea Ars Magna

ARS MAGNA IS THE TERM WE HAVE CHOOSEN TO INDICATE OUR TOP OF LINE WINES.

ARS MAGNA IS A METHOD OF THOUGHT CONCEIVED BY THE MAJORCAN PHILOSOPHER AND THEOLOGIAN RAMON LLULL (1232 - 1316) TO UNITE THE THREE GREAT MONOTHEISTIC RELIGIONS: CHRISTIANITY, JUDAISM AND ISLAM. BY PLACING REASON AND LOGIC AT THE CENTRE HE ANALYZES THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN "GOD AND MAN", "MAN AND NATURE" AND BETWEEN "MEN". ÔMINA ROMANA IS INSPIRED BY THESE LINKS FOR THE ARS MAGNA LINE MARKED BY THE SYMBOL CREATED BY RAMON LLULL, WHICH SUMMARIZES HIS THOUGHT: THE CONTINUOUS, NEVER STATIC, COMBINATION OF THE GREAT VIRTUES. CISCUN VINO DELLA LINEA ARS MAGNA IS ASSOCIATED WITH A SPECIFIC VIRTUE OF THE LULLINA TABLE: FROM THE STRONG AND NOBLE CABERNET FRANC, CALLED MAGNITUDO, TO THE GENTLE AND HONEST CHARDONNAY, ASSOCIATED WITH BONITAS. TO DISCOVER THE OTHER VIRTUES SAPIENTIA, POTESTAS AND VIRTUS...
